Teaching Writing 2013: The Quest for Authenticity in Composition Practices and Pedagogy

The third annual Teaching Writing summer symposium will continue the mission of improving college-writing readiness in the East Texas community by offering a week-long series of workshops for writing instructors from area high schools, community colleges, and universities. For summer 2013, we have chosen the theme of authenticity as it applies to both classroom learning and the experience of writing. The workshops will emphasize practical models and methods for teaching critical thinking, reading, writing, and developing transferable skills in our students. As always, the workshops offer opportunities to discuss different learning styles, institutional constraints, and the everyday demands of technology and communication.
